Alphabet Beginning Sounds Poster ~ Free Printable

The co-op that we participate in has a class for preschool based on the ABC’s. Each week we focus on a new letter of the alphabet, so I put together this poster with both the uppercase and lowercase letters along with a real picture of an object that began with that sound.

ABC Poster

Super simple, but something colorful and fun for us to review the letters and letter sounds that we’ve already learned. Click the image or download the Alphabet Beginning Sounds Poster from my Alphabet Resources page.

You can find more Early Learning Printables {all for FREE} on my website. Have fun!!

Short and Long Vowel Picture Cards ~ Free Preschool Printables

The Short and Long Vowel Picture Cards are designed to help you work with your child to identify the beginning short and long vowel sound in words. Each vowel in the sets includes three picture cards to go along with that beginning vowel sound.

Help your child match the picture cards to their beginning vowel sound. You can also use the picture cards to practice identifying objects with your child. The crisp white backgrounds on the Vowel Picture Cards, allow little ones to focus on the actual object that is being talked about.

The Vowel Picture Cards were designed to go along with the Consonant Picture Cards that I shared some time ago, so be sure to download those as well! Now you’ll have a full set of ABC beginning sound cards to use with your kids ~ and they are all free!

    Here’s a little peek at the cards…

A is for Astronaut Letter Craft

    20110405-20110405-IMG_9006

This uppercase A astronaut was too much fun to make! We did it this week along with our Astronaut Preschool Pack.

    What You’ll Need:

    • white, pink {or skin toned} and black foam sheet
    • tinfoil
    • scissors
    • glue/tape {I love glue dots!}
    • black marker

    20110405-20110405-IMG_8971

How to Make the ‘A’ for Astronaut:

    1. Cut an uppercase A from a piece of white foam sheet. We used a piece that was 4” x 5”.
    2. Using the excess white foam, I cut out arms/sleeves, a white helmet and a white ‘space pack’ for our astronaut.
    3. Using pink foam, cut out a face for your astronaut, just slightly smaller than your helmet.
    4. Cut space boots and gloves from the black craft foam.
    5. Cover the space pack with tinfoil.
    6. Glue the boots, arms and gloves onto the uppercase A.
    7. Glue the space pack onto the back of the A. We added some straps by rolling pieces of tinfoil and wrapping them around the A like backpack straps.
    8. Draw a face on your astronaut ~ don’t forget to add hair!
    9. Glue/tape your astronaut’s helmet and head onto the top of the letter A.

    Preschool Corner ~ Lowercase Letter Crafts q - t

We started out the week with a sick Kaleb and did manage to squeeze in some school time {and were really getting on a roll}…and are now in the midst of household chaos with lots of painting, scrubbing and house purging going on.

Instead of paper and pencil school, we spent time on field trips so that Daddy could get some things done without interruption ~ the library and the children’s museum being top on the list!

Here are a few more of the lowercase alphabet letter crafts that Cindy and I have been sharing over at Totally Tots. Click on the picture to visit the post about that craft. :)

Depending on how next week goes, I’m REALLY hoping that I’ll be able to share another preschool pack with you!! I’m trying to wrap up some behind the scenes stuff before I post all about it too. Right now, focusing on our kids and keeping our sanity intact is top on my ‘to do’ list {grins}…but I do have some fun stuff in store!

Preschool Corner ~ Do a Dot Pages N-Z

Great plans…and this week ended up being completely crazy. While we did do lots of learning, it wasn’t all all what I had planned for us to do.

We took a trip to Target {after yet another doctor’s visit} and ended up filling up all of our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We wrote letters to each of the children that we are sending shoeboxes too, printed of pictures to include in our boxes, and got them ready to drop off. {Note to self: Next year, make a special date and take each kiddo separately to shop for shoebox gifts. Four kids in Target shoving things in shoeboxes = pure craziness}.

The do-a-dot markers came out in FULL force this week again, and I printed off more copies of our A-Z pages for Kaleb to work on {his request!}. Since I haven’t shared the second batch of the do-a-dot pages, I figured this would be a great time to do that. :) Here are a few sample pages for the letters N-Z do-a-dot sheets. You can also download the letters A-M do-a-dot set here.

    Tools We Use

I’ve put together a ‘preschool store’ of sorts through Amazon that shows many of the tools and toys we use during our preschool time ~ and some of our favorite things.

    Preschool Corner ~ Lowercase Letter Crafts m - p

We did squeeze in a few days of school time this week before some of the kiddos ended up getting sick…which then resulted in Mom being super tired.

Kaleb is VERY excited that Saturday we’ll be going to see VeggieTales Live this weekend and truthfully, I’m really hoping that we get to hear my favorite song ~ Bellybutton! If your kiddos love VeggieTales, you might want to see if they will be in your area since the shows will be through November 30th. Assuming that the big guys don’t scare him to death, we should have plenty of pictures to share! :)

Before the sickies hit, we spent a lot of time reading about pirates!! Kaleb has been fascinated with them lately, so we read and read and read. We also did a fun letter craft that went along with our pirate unit. Can you guess which of the following letters it was?

Here are a few more of the lowercase alphabet letter crafts that Cindy and I have been sharing over at Totally Tots. Click on the picture to visit the post about that craft. :)

If you haven’t already, be sure to enter to win a GREAT resource book for moms of preschoolers ~ Homepreschool and Beyond by Susan Lemons. I have several copies of the book to give away to a few readers!

Hope you all had a GREAT week ~ and can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!

    Preschool Corner ~ Lowercase Letter Crafts i - l

We’re still working through a quick alphabet review with Kaleb and will start doing some more detailed units soon {that I can’t wait to share with you!!}. We’re also doing ABC’s at co-op and I’m teaching, so our weeks lately have been very full and I’m doing more than usual in preparing for 14 kids in my class this year. Definitely makes my 4 kids seem much easier. :)

Kaleb’s big highlight of the week is that he is finally reciting his Awana Cubbies verses to his teacher. He’ll say them for me at home and then refuses to say anything when he gets to church. He also drew a stunning likeness of me ~ you’ll have to check it out and see if you agree {grins}.

Just to give myself a little breather I’m sharing some more of the lowercase alphabet letter crafts that Cindy and I have been sharing over at Totally Tots. Click on the picture to visit the post about that craft. :)
