The Well-Planned Day Homeschool Planner ~ Review & Giveaway
Planners are something that I adore ~ in any shape and size. The prettier, the better. At convention this year I passed the booth of The Well-Planned Day and had to stop and flip through their planners.
They are gorgeous!
The 8.5 x 11 spiral bound homeschool planners are over 200 full-color pages and include:
- A full year of planning from July 2010 - June 2011
- Room for planning for up to four children’s assignments
- Four Student Time Schedules: Track each day by the hour.
- Weekly Schedule: Organize your week with class assignments, weekly priorities, prayer requests, dinner menu, and notes.
- Month at a Glance: Plan field trips, enrichment activities and books to read
- Monthly articles and tips on homeschooling.
- Semester Attendance & Progress Reports
- Perforated Report Cards
- Perforated weekly shopping lists and room to plan meals
- Reading through the Bible schedule on the daily calendar
- and much more....
The first few pages give examples on how to best use the planner and the planner itself is printed on quality paper including thick cardstock for the report cards. Each month has a different color theme to help you keep track of the month to month changes. The Homeschool Planner is available in two different formats ~ spiral bound {$24.95} or pdf download {$19.95 ~ note the perforated lists will not be such in the pdf download}. See a sample of the planner by clicking here.
If you purchase a copy of the Well-Planned Day, you receive a bonus of a 1 year subscription to the Home Educating Family magazine! A one year subscription {published quarterly} to the magazine can also be purchased separately for $15.95/yr.
Well-Planned Day also offers a spiral bound Middle School Assignment Planner {$12.95} that a certain 4th grader in our house quickly hugged to her chest and ran off with. The Middle School planner is also a 12 month planner {July 2010 – June 2011} that includes room for your student to keep track of assignments and chores, learn catechism and Bible verses, explore 12 attributes of God, and keep track of the month-at-a-glance.
My Thoughts
The Family Homeschool Planner is intended for homeschool planning, but I am using it a little differently for our family. I really needed a larger planner for our daily routines and activities, so I am going to be using it for my personal planner and just ignoring the subjects that are in the sidebar. I LOVE the full color graphics and designs that are throughout the entire planner along with the inspiring articles and room to plan menus and shopping lists ~ having some of the lists perforated is wonderful!
As a homeschool planner, there was one thing that I really wish the calendar would have included ~ a bigger ‘year-at-a-glance’ planning page. There are monthly calendars and a small yearly one, but I like to have room to write a little more all in one place so I can get the big picture of our school year and figure out our break times, etc…
The Middle School Planner is already a big hit in our house and Laurianna is anxious to really use it all the time! The issue of Home Educating Family magazine that I received featured the family of Tim Hawkins and had a variety of articles that I really enjoyed {specifically the one on over-scheduling…ahem}. If you are interested in finding out more about the Home Educating Family magazine, you can request a sample issue.

I am such the planner type gal, but it must be pretty. This one is! I bought this same planner and will use it more like you talked about for your family. This is my first year homeschooling and I was a little overwhelmed by this planner at first. SO much in it! BUT I think it is great and have been using it already. I LOVE the articles and tips.
Great giveaway!

I agree about the Year-At-Glance. There is a calendar, but no planning space. I also wish the subjects weren't pre-printed so I could label them in our used order. This is our second year buying this planner, and other than those 2 minor things, I love it!
By Sam, At August 11, 2010 at 8:21 AM
I simply love this Well-Planned Day planner - have been hoping for some flex spending in our homeschool budget, but haven't found any yet.

I'd also strongly consider the Well Grounded Middle Schooler!
I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hope to win!!
Thank YOU for offering it!
By Kela, At August 11, 2010 at 8:45 AM
This is my second year buying this planner and I love it! Last year I used it more as a family planner only, too. This year, I've begun lesson planning in it and I'm excited to have everything in one place.
One place you can use for yearly planning is the semester attendance calendars. They are bigger and I don't use all four mark attendance.
It never fails that when I use it in public, someone always comments on how pretty it is.
If I win, I would love to give one to a mom I know who would love it!

I like the well planned day. I explained to my children this morning (our first day back to school) that Mommy is not a planner. I don't like following a schedule, but the time has come, and I must make (and FOLLOW!) a schedule. This could just be what I am looking for. foxyfoxfamily at gmail

Just the well planned day for me ;) I have a young kids so no need for middle school or high school yet.
I hope I win-I wanted this planner-highly recommended to me-but it's just not in the budget for mama to have a pretty planner LOL

Just spent a whole lotta time over at their website and their planner looks amazing! I'm a planner junkie but this would be perfect! If I don't win, I guess I'll have to buy one!

I love a planner as well. But a new (to me)homeschool magazine is the real score! I wish
I had extra $ right now for a planner. The ones at the teacher store don't meet my needs at all and having 4 going for all my age groups is silly. fargofarms@charter.net

I think the Well Planned Day Planner looks great, even if you are not homeschooling...like you said. I went and requested the magazine too - love information. We are still undecided about homeschooling our DD. Thank God we have 2 years to officially decide before K. Thanks for such a nice giveaway!

How awesome. I had that up in my browser for almost a week ... but finally decided I didn't have the money to buy it. I was also interested the in planners for high school (my oldest daughter) and middle school (my next down daughter). We settled for $3 student planners from Walmart.
But this sounds SO AWESOME. If Dh gets a job, maybe we can get this next year.
