Thankful and Rambling

This year was the first year that Rick attended convention with me and during lunch together one day he said nine of the sweetest words to me.

“I am so glad you are homeschooling our kids.”

Really, I about started crying. I am so thankful for his support and encouragement, but having him sit in on workshops and get a deeper insight meant so much to me.

I’m really not sure that I can put it adequately into words, but that simple sentence encouraged me beyond measure.

And made me thankful that I have the opportunity to homeschool our kids.

  • It is definitely wonderful to have the support of our husbands. I don't know if I could homeschool my kids if I didn't have my husbands support. I thank God everyday that he has blessed me with him.

  • That is so wonderful. I thank my husband regularly for being so supportive of homeschooling our sons. It is really such a great help. As my husband says, "There is no one I would want more to teach our children than you!" *tear*. It is truly a wonderful feeling. I teared up reading your post to him. =D

  • That was the best compliment any Homeschooling mom could hear from her husband.

  • There are so many homeschool moms who do not have the full support of their hubbies - I too am blessed with a fully supportive husband. Our toddler was in the hospital for 3 days with the flu and after he had had the other 3 kids for that whole time, he said, I have a new appreciation for what you do every day... that meant so much to me. I have treasured those words in my heart ever since.

  • I went to the conference as well and I saw you and your hubby in the hall. I wanted to say hello but I didn't want to go all starry-eyed and interrupt your time together. LOL Glad that it was a positive experience for both of you. I came away feeling very positive from the experience as well.

  • That's great. A husband's support is great. But when they are just plain happy about it, yay!

  • What a blessing to you! I know exactly the feeling you're trying to convey. When my husband says something similar it is such a blessing to my spirit. God always makes sure he knows when I need to hear it, too. ;-D

  • What a blessing to hear that from your hubby.

I've been meaning to ask...since I know you live in CA...where was this confrence? Can you share more about it? I live in CA and I've never been to a convention for homeschoolers.

  • There is something about our husbands seeing what we do on our side and saying those encouraging words that keep us going! So wonderful way to go Rick!

  • I think it's difficult for our husbands to understand ALL of what we do in home educating our children, but when they recognize the sacrifice that it takes from us as mothers, it hits the spot with words of appreciation such as your husband's. Awesome! God is good. Enjoy your summer.

  • It is so great having a supportive husband! Mine defends me to everyone who says something about us homeschooling. He tells me all the time that he is happy we are homeschooling.

  • This is great! I can totally relate. :) Those words are beautiful, aren't they?
