South Africa Country Study

We have friends who visited South Africa a few years ago, so the girls remembered hearing about some of the different places that they had visited and also seeing pictures of their trip ~ making this a fun country to review and study.

Along the way we learned that South Africa is bigger than Texas and California combined, practiced a little Zulu, got confused with the three different capitals {Cape Town, Pretoria, and Bloemfontein}, and discovered that South Africa actually has another country within its borders {Lesotho}.

You can view the other countries that we’ve studied from Africa on my geography page.

  • I came here via Kathy's, would not have left a comment. Seeing the heading made me change my mind. That is my country, never thought people from over there will learn of us here.

  • At some point, rather than clipping to Evernote each individual page, I'll go to the main page and clip that. But then where'd be the fun in that?
Did you know Italy also has a country within it?

  • What a timely post considering World Cup soccer starts next week and South Africa is hosting. Can't believe you didn't mention it! Although I realize it is not as big in the US. Heaps of geography-related activities you can do with World Cup.
