Science Kits and Giveaway Time!

I never thought I'd hear myself say "let's do some school in the summer" but those words have slipped out of my mouth and the kids are all game for it. We're planning on focusing more on science over the summer months since the bugs are crawling everywhere and the weather tends to cooperate more with us. It's most definitely the time to get outside and enjoy so many different aspects of nature! And when the weather gets too hot ~ it will be a great time to do experiments together and learn in a different way.

You're probably wondering about that giveaway I mentioned, aren't you?

AllChildrensFurniture.com contacted me recently about hosting a giveaway on my blog. From their name I assumed that their site was only about children's furniture.

I was so wrong.

Over the last few days I have had much fun browsing their site full of kids furniture, kid's decor ideas, outdoor play items, doll houses, art supplies and wishing I had all the money in the world to start stocking up on games and learning toys for next year's school time.

AllChildrensFurniture carries a wide range of products and has some great search features to help find items based on age ranges, price ranges, brands, and more. I've been searching through all of their art items, science kits, wooden toys and finally came up with two choices for you {and secretly I am wanting to get my hands on both of these kits for some fun this summer!}.

Are you ready for your choices? Here they are!

Wind Power Science Kit {ages 8 and up}

With the Wind Power kit your children can build a working wind turbine with an electric generator, rotors and a wind speed indicator. The kit also includes over 20 experiments to go along with the turbine. In our school time this would be great since some of our family lives near a wind farm and we've been able to see the turbines up close.

Physics Workshop Science Kit
{ages 8 and up}

The Physics Discovery kit include materials to build 12 models and help children learn about forces and simple machines ~ demonstrating concepts like levers, pulleys, centrifugal forces and gears. I know our kids would have a blast putting these together and hand-on experiments/models make science come alive!

The rules {'cause there have to be some}:

If you would like to enter to win, here are the ways to earn up to three entries:
  1. Head over to AllChildrensFurniture.com, find something you like, and come back here and tell me about it.
  2. Twitter about this contest and then come back to leave an additional comment
  3. Let your friends through facebook or your blog ~ come back to leave an additional comment
The giveaway is open until Friday, June 5th at 8pm and is only open to residents in the continental US. A winner will be chosen at random and I will announce the winner next Monday, June 8th. Please be sure to leave a way for me to contact you {i.e. blog address or email}. The winner will have 3 days to contact me with their choice of science kits and shipping information. If I haven't heard back within 3 days, I will draw another winner.

**** This giveaway is now closed****

Just wanted to pass along a little something that would be a great idea for Mom I'm bored! @ WFMW!

Thanks so much to AllChildrensFurniture.com for being gracious enough to sponsor the giveaway!

After watching my 4 year old play with playdoh for hours on Thursday and Friday, I would have to say the clay play set would be nice for us. But my 10 year old wants to learn more about electricity, so any of those science kits would be fun.

Hugs,
Melinda

These science kits look fun! The one on solar power caught my eye: http://www.allchildrensfurniture.com/Thames-and-Kosmos-623715-TAK1023.html#ProdDetails,
We are building off grid, so this would be a good learning tool for us all. Oh, and the chemistry kit looks neat too. My 8 year old asked me if we could do chemistry this summer. . . And I really like the Little Labs kit for Malachi. . .

I love the Tinker Toy - 300 Piece Frontier Logs Play Set with Action Figures.

Reminds me of the old Lincoln Log sets. My boys had a set when they were younger but the majority of the pieces got lost. They loved that set and played with it a lot.

I really need to get them another set now that they are older and there's two more boys in the household now too.

Valerie said...

Oh my goodness they have a lot of stuff! I got lost forever!

My favorite find was the wooden paintbrush set, love it!

I like the windpower kit you posted above too!

We're going to lounge our learning this summer, not taking it all the way off.....but mostly!

Blessings,

Valerie

WOW--what a great website and a terrific giveaway!! My son would love the physics set--he is really into science.

I had a hard time narrowing it to one thing on the website. I am in love with YooDo building set: http://www.allchildrensfurniture.com/Offi-YDIR-OFF1072.html. I love toys that let kids explore on their own and use their imagination. I will definitely be saving the site for holiday shopping.

What I meant to say in the previous posting is that we're in need of bunkbeds SOON as baby #3 is on the way in our 3 bedroom small house!

Danielle Hull said...

Checked out the site - loved some of the bedroom decor, but my favorites, I'm afraid to admit, are the wooden blocks. With 6 kids you'd think we have a collection of blocks, but we have no wooden blocks! What kind of parents are we?! The baby was stacking cans the other day, poor thing ;-) Thanks for the giveaway!

I am loving the Deluxe Garage play set, I would have loved that as a kid, I was such a tomboy.

Michelle said...

As much as I love the physics kit, I think my son & I would have an even bigger blast with the earthquake kit. We just had our first "real earthquake" out here and he has a ton of questions. :)

Erin said...

Oh, where do I start? I had to stop looking, otherwise I would still be there and then forget to post. Well, I have one child who would love the science kits. Which science kits? Yes. The other's will take anything that involves the words "paint", "stamps", "clay", and ... well you get the picture.

Jo Ann said...

Seriously, I'm supposed to narrow this down to one or two favorites? ;)

Caleb would adore any of the science kits. He's been eyeing something very similar to the Physics kit. Of course, he's still considering the field of archeaology...
