Gearing Up for the Bible in 90 Days

Here’s a question for you ~ have you ever read the Bible completely through from cover to cover? Is it something that you’ve started mult\iple times, only to somehow lose steam as you went along?

Until this past year, I was one that had NEVER read the Bible completely through. Chunks of it, sure. But it didn’t happen from start to finish.

Last January I joined Amy from Mom’s Toolbox as she led a group of ladies online in reading the Bible in 90 Days. From January to March I read and read and read…and successfully completed it for the first time in my life. In July, I signed up as mentor when another group started the reading program again and also read through it a second time.

Overwhelming? Yes, at times. Worth it? Absolutely!!!

Amy @ Mom’s Toolbox is hosting another Bible in 90 Days challenge, starting on Monday, January 3rd. The challenge will run through the end of March ~ and I am encouraging you all to join in by signing up here.

Interested? You can find out more {a crash-course if you will} about the Bible in 90 Days on Amy’s blog. I promise you it will be a life-changing experience! The official sign-up starts today ~ at Mom’s Toolbox.

  • Can you share your tips for how you get this done? Time of day, juggling with homeschooling prep and schedule and all that? I would love to do it but I would hate to start and not follow through! :) Thanks for sharing!

  • How much time per day did it take you to get the reading done?

  • I too started this last January and fell behind, and didn't finish. I have been wanting to start up again and finish. I would love to join you all in January!

  • Early morning and later at night were my two best times. I curled up early morning with a cup of coffee and would read as much as I could...and then late at night in bed. :)

  • I have to tell you... I was just rocking my daughter to sleep (she's congested, coughing and need a little help falling asleep tonight.) While rocking, I found my mind drifting, then I started praying. Specifically, I asked for guidance on how to better serve the Lord and use my talents/abilities for the purposes He intended. I also asked for guidance to continue growing spiritually and learning everything I could along the journey.

After I laid my sleepy little one in bed, I thought about falling asleep myself. Instead, I decided to come to the computer. I clicked on Facebook and the first thing I see is this post!!!

While rocking, I was thinking "I could make it a goal for 2011 to read the Bible - cover to cover." The Lord has other plans -now I know the next step to take in my journey! Thanks for posting!

PS - the second thing I did was read about the Bible in 90 days. Then, I saw your post about your kidney stone - I hope you feel better soon!!! I've never had a kidney stone, but have had gallstones and they were terrible. I've heard kidney stones create awful pain too. Praying for you!

  • Thanks for the reminder. I'm seeing this on so many blogs I follow, I really need to jump in and do it.

The biggest problem I foresee having is I have a hard time just READING the Bible. I always want to stop and look up other scriptures, definitions, etc. Do you have any of the same issues? I need to head over to the main site and see what they have to say. I just might join in this go-round!

  • Diana ~ I kept a notebook next to me to write down things that grabbed my attention, but the biggest help was having a Bible without notes and footnotes so I could just read. :)
